Historical Reference
Truely understanding a specific cocktail, or the ingredents that it contains, often also includes understanding the history of the beverage, if not also the history of the people who lived during the time of the beverage.
A Historical Reference book, is one that goes into considerable
detail about the historical significance of a particular spirit, or of a
particular cocktail. A Featured Cocktail Reference or Spirit Reference
could be considered a Historical Reference based on the quality and
quantity of background information it provided. Going into considerable
details about recipes or manufacturers that are no longer available or
common would be a good indication of a book being a Historical Reference.
Almost any book on Absinthe would be considered a Historical Reference.
