Voyager

This represents my entry into the classic Tiki/Exotic cocktail arena. Since those Polynesian inspired restaurants were intended as a mini-vacation, I felt the name "Voyager" worked really well... or perhaps it's because I'm a big Star Trek fan... either way, it's a great drink.

I created this drink in 2006 specifically for an event at "Tales of the Cocktail" in New Orleans. Since I am always interested in using slightly obscure ingredients, I designed this drink to use Benedictine and falernum. Benedictine isn't a very common cocktail ingredient, although it is fairly commonly found in liquor stores. You don't want to use B&B, since this isn't quite the same thing. Falernum, is essentially a sweet syrup that is flavored with lime juice, ginger, and other spices. It can be a little difficult to find, but a LOT easier to find today then it was back in 2006.
