Negroni

Negroni

Garnish: Orange slice.
Stir with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass.

It was sometime prior to 1920 that the Negroni appears to have had it's birth at the Cafe Casoni in Florence Italy. The Americano was already a popular drink, but Count Camillo Negroni liked his afternoon Americano with a splash of gin instead of soda, and so that is how bartender Fosco "Gloomy" Scarselli would make it for him. Other patrons began asking for their Americanos "the Negroni way".
